DESCRIPTION:Your browser does not support the video tag. \nPurpose\nTo support and honor Newark high school seniors who have demonstrated an interest in public safety and are pursuing higher education\, by awarding scholarships to assist with college expenses. \nScholarship Details\n\nAward Amount: $1\,000 per student\nUse of Funds: Tuition\, books\, or related college expenses at an accredited institution\n\nEligibility Requirements\n\nMust be a current high school senior\nResident of Newark\, NJ\nMust demonstrate a strong interest in a public safety career (e.g.\, firefighting\, EMS\, law enforcement\, emergency management)\n\nApplication Requirements\n\nOfficial high school transcript\nThree (3) letters of recommendation\nAt least one must be from a teacher or school official\nOthers can be from mentors\, coaches\, community leaders\, or public safety professionals\nA personal statement or essay (minimum 300 words) outlining\nYour interest in public safety\nCommunity involvement or relevant experiences\nYour goals for the future\n\nAward Ceremony\nSelected recipients will be honored during the in-person ceremony on Saturday\, June 14\, 2025\, at 695 Bergen Street\, Newark\, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Family\, mentors\, and community partners are welcome to attend and celebrate the achievements of these future leaders. \nThis scholarship initiative is part of the Vulcan Pioneers’ mission to empower and uplift Newark’s youth\, while investing in the next generation of public safety professionals.
